Slaugtherhouse-Five
Kurt Vonnegut

The ones who hated war the most, were the ones who’d really fought.

Billy cried very little, though he often saw things worth crying about, and in that respect, at least, he resembled the Christ of the carol:

The cattle of lowing,
The Baby awakes.
But the little Lord Jesus
No crying he makes

A novel about life and death. So it goes.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom always to tell the difference.
