I’m currently in New York as I start writing this post, and I thought how opportune it would be to write about the page “Humans of New York (HONY)“. HONY is run by a guy named Brandon, who originally started capturing portraits of people on the streets of New York and posted them on his website. After awhile, he started interviewing his models and he included a snippet of his conversation in the captions of the photos. I’ve been following HONY for awhile now, from simply seeing portraits of people without any background, to seeing a glimpse of their thoughts. And I must say, the captions are what gave this page a whole new potential.
As we are nearing Christmas day, I thought it would be appropriate to share a hopeful quote for the holidays. It’s that time again where love is in the air and we are reminded of our family, friends and our blessings. For a magical moment, we forget about all our hardships and everything feels perfect. But it’s important to count our blessings and to remember that we own the greatest gift of all — that we are loved. Here is a quote by someone I have developed a deep respect for:
If you enter this world knowing you are loved, and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with. – Michael Jackson

Well more seriously, we accomplished a lot and faster than we expected. Not to be all cheesy and such (maybe) but I think he is a special one and I want to highlight our memories and how much we grew and changed each other. I remember reading this quote many years ago, and at the time it didn’t strike me because I don’t like teenage-love quotes, and this sounds exactly like one. Yet as I got to know him, these words resurfaced and everything he does reminds me of it, which is comforting to me. I don’t always take what I read literally to heart, but this one must have some truth to it, right? Continue reading
